An art book by french artist Loïc Locatelli-Kournwsky. You might be familiar with his series Flavor Girls, or the "magical" card tokens we released with him. He's got a very distinct style that covers cute and whimsical creatures to grim and raw environments and figures. Without difficulty, Loïc often manages to let the two opposite styles coexist in a weird harmony that balances between realism and cartoons.
In the book we get to find out a bit about Loïc's background, his thoughts on being an artist, and why he's drawn to depict motifs of the occult, the supernatural, undead and witches. You can see some more of his work at https://loiclocatelli.com/
This is the Peow2 reprint of the original Peow(1) book. It's a 92 page book in full color, with dust jacket and gold foil stamp on the cover.

MINI INTERVIEW WITH LOIC by Taylor F.
T: Are there any supernatural stories or characters that you find particularly interesting?
Loic: I like ghost stories the most! good ghosts, sad ghosts, angry ghosts, hungry ghosts… and I love ghost movies: The Innocents, The Shining, House, Poltergeist, Ring, Sixth Sense, The Others, Dark Water, The Haunting of Hill House, Caspe… no, not this one.
Ghosts are as frightening as they are sad figures… I think I can understand them : it sounds dreadful to be dead!
Have you ever seen a ghost in real life?
Never… For my own good, I wish I’d have! Then I could be a bit more like Peter Jackson or Guillermo Del Toro, and truly believe in fantasmas…But I’m still Cartesian in mind. “I want to believe” like Fox Mulder, while being skeptical like Dana Scully.
Still waiting to be proven wrong.
It seems you draw inspiration from a lot of different cultures; is exploring different cultural traditions through your art something you’re interested in?
Yes of course! Our modern societies tend to standardize everything, from the clothes we wear, the furniture in our houses… to the culture we digest. So I’m always happy to open a picture book and hear about the Ainus, the Himba, the Yawanawa and the thousands of other ways humans lived their lives. The world is like a fantasy book! Full of crazy outfits, constructions, rituals, and magic!
I’m not really interested in drawing people wearing Uniqlo T-shirts and Ikea houses.
OK! Well.. what else have you been working on?
I'm mostly working on a comicbook series called Flavor Girls. If you don't know it, please check it out!! ;)
